Can I see Dr. Mills for medication management and still keep my current therapist?
Absolutely! The relationship between psychiatrists, psychologists (Ph.D.s, Psy.D.s) and other mental health practitioners (LCSWs, MSWs, LCPCs) is both friendly and collaborative. Often, patients are referred who are already in treatment, and their therapist (or the patient) requests a medication evaluation by a psychiatrist. I welcome these referrals and, in general, welcome any opportunity to collaborate with your current therapist in attending to your emotional health. You will be asked to sign a Consent For Release Of Information when referred to my clinic, so that I will be able to contact your primary therapist to discuss your case.
How long do I have to wait for an initial appointment with Dr. Mills?
The wait list is extremely variable - sometimes as short as 1-2 days, and as long as 4 weeks in rare instances. An appointment time is always reserved just for you and, unlike other providers, I never overbook. Therefore, you can be 100% assured that you'll never sit around for extended periods in the waiting room. Your time is protected, always.  I usually schedule only two - three patients per hour at a maximum for medication management.
